Byron Peard

About Me

I'm Byron. Since 2009 I have been immersed in Architecture beginning with study at Unitec Polytechnic in Auckland, New Zealand. Throughout my study I have gained an appreciation for architecture and the various elements that are required to create something worthwhile.

I have a love for architecture and the creation of space that improves peoples’ lives. I strive for perfection and, having studied for five years and subsequently worked in the industry for four more, I have developed very good time management and teamwork skills and a love for challenges. I constantly look to extend my knowledge and skills and believe that I am a very capable person for almost any job. I aspire to one day become a registered architect and see my buildings built with the knowledge that they are helping people, improving lives and the urban language of wherever they are located.

Employment Role Summary

Ignite Architects, Auckland, New Zealand

As an employee of Ignite Architects I was placed on the ‘Special Projects’ team, looking after projects that did not fall into the standard categories of architecture within the office. My focus was mainly on advanced aged care complexes as well as extension work on Auckland's Domestic Airport Terminal. As part of my role I took sole responsibility for various BIM models as well as the massing & design of some projects. In addition to my architectural work I was also involved in the production of 3D printing models and technology, rendering, augmented reality software and various other presentation platforms.

Pollard Thomas Edwards Architects, London, United Kingdom

During my time at Pollard Thomas Edwards I was involved with various projects throughout the office. My main role was developed design and documentation during the planning consent stages of projects. The designs I contributed to were usually mid to large scale mixed use residential developments for both private, shared and affordable ownership. In addition to this I also contributed to the design and documentation of public sector buildings including an art gallery and civic centre/sports complex.  As BIM Coordinator on the majority of these projects I was able to develop coordination and management skills and hone my BIM modelling methods using the latest versions of the software.

Stephenson & Turner Architects, Auckland, New Zealand

My experience at Stephenson & Turner includes running my own projects (mainly schools), working in teams, and gaining face to face experience with clients whether it be networking or design related interaction. This has resulted in a high level of time management. Throughout my time at S&T I have also modelled in Revit, Google Sketchup and AutoCAD proficiently. Other skills include Photoshop and document preparation through InDesign, Word and various other programs.
